Windell Lloyd Nelson of the Mossy Grove Community entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on August 15, 2012 at the age of 88.
Lloyd was born in Catoosa, Tennessee on August 18, 1923 to Sam and Emma Nelson. He entered the U.S. Army at the age of 21 and served in Germany during WWII. During his tour of duty he had the privilege of serving in the honor guard of General Dwight Eisenhower; a distinction Lloyd would not mention for 58 years. He returned to Tennessee and married his beloved wife of 41 years, Dorothy Alene. In 1955 they moved to Mossy Grove and raised four children, Libby, James, Steve and Tony. In 1956 he helped charter and was a lifetime member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Mossy Grove. He was employed at Y12 where he began a 35 year career spanning the Cold War era.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Dorothy Alene, Brothers: Lonnie and Lester, Sister: Glenna Scott, Grandson: Brian Gregory Nelson and an infant son.
He is survived by Daughter: Elizabeth Kay Hutchinson and husband George of Mt. Pleasant, SC
Sons: James Lloyd and wife Sandra of Claxton, TN, Stephen Lee of Mossy Grove, John Anthony and wife Angel of Mossy Grove
Grandchildren: Hayley Nelson, Terra Nelson, Alexzandria Nelson, Stephanie Hamby and husband Travis, Nathan Nelson, Laura Beth Loveless and husband Ryan, Garet Hutchinson and wife Katie, Shelly Swafford and husband Greg, Christie Lamon and husband Mike
Sister: Anna Mae Drake of Ohio
Brother: Leo Nelson of Catoosa TN

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of Life Care Center of Morgan County for the wonderful care, kindness and consideration extended to Lloyd and his family during this difficult time.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday August 17, 2012 at Schubert Funeral Home Wartburg. Funeral Services will follow with Bro. Clayton Duncan and Bro.Brett Pallotta officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded during graveside services at 10:00am Saturday in Morgan Memorial Gardens Wartburg.
