Virginia Oakley of Petros, TN

Virginia (Ms. Ginny) Oakley, born on December 6, 1941, was peacefully called home at 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2020.  She was a loved and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and great-grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Oakley; daughter, Londa Lynn; son, Eric Lynn; great-grandson, Kymani Foster; parents, Elmer, and Mary Howard; brothers, Stanley, Charles, William, and “Wally” Howard.

She is survived by her daughter, Sara Oakley; grandchildren, Christina, (Quincy), Sunny, (B.J.), Ginny, Marcella, Monica; great grand-children, Brayden, Arianna, R.J., Quintia, Nevaeh, Quincy, Karma, Trinity, Lyla, Michael, Karlee and Ava; sisters, Brenda and Kathy Howard and families; brother, Paul Howard.

Most people knew her as Nanny and Lil’ Ginny.  Nanny was loving, caring and would give you the shirt off her back.  She was devoted to her grand kids and lived her life for them.  Nanny took life as it came and never complained no matter how hard the situation got.  She not once judged any of us on the decisions we made and loved us even more for the bad ones.  She opened her home to so many when no one else would and never asked for anything in return.  Although short in size, her heart was the size of the universe.  Nanny will forever be missed but never forgotten.  Rest peacefully Nanny because we will be ok. – Family.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 20, 2020 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at High Point Cemetery in Deer Lodge.
