Virginia Byrge

Virginia Alden Lawson Byrge, 81, of Wartburg, was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 8, 2016. She was a longtime member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church having accepted Christ as her Savior as a child. Her faith and love for her Lord saw her through many years of illness. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Charlie, parents Fred and Armelda Lawson, bother Luther, sister Dorothy and many other loved ones.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Deanna and Walter Phillips of Maynardville, Glenna Byrge, Debra and Tim Adkins and Judy Byrge of Wartburg; her son Charles of Wartburg and fiancée Myra Tipton of Knoxville. She is also survived by grandchildren: Michael and Cindy Adkins, Tiffany and Dan McCray, Tonya and Bill Lowe, Josh Underwood, Ashton Byrge and fiancée Ashley McCloud, Jared and Jamie Underwood,  Kaitlyn Byrge, Chad and Allyson Phillips, Chris and Diane Phillips, Carla and Mark Sykes and Carol Knolton; great-grandchildren: Madilyn Armes, Danica McCray, Maci Byrge, Clay and Cortney Phillips, Bella Rose Byrge, Kennedy Adkins, Julia Hoskins, Benjamin Hoskins, Maleika and Marissa Phillips; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was looking forward to the birth of great-granddaughter Jaycee Grace Underwood who is due in October.

She is also survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law Nadine Wright and Louise and Odus Wilson of Carryville and sister-in-law Snowdear Byrge of Stephens and a host of nieces, nephews and other loved ones.

Her children and grandchildren were the great loves of her life, but she also enjoyed making beautiful handmade quilts, embroidery and canning green beans and other homegrown vegetables. She adored and was adored by her faithful furry companion Tiny. She was retired from the former Red Kap in Wartburg where she worked for many years.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:00-1:30 P.M.  at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg with the funeral to follow at the Beech Fork Church in Caryville, Tn. with Bro. Benji Blakney  Burial will be in the Beech Fork Church Cemetery in Campbell County.
