Vesta Hester

On Sunday, August 4, 2013, Vesta Redmon Hester left her
Earthly home for her new home in Heaven in the presence of her family.

Vesta was born July 4, l922, in Oakdale, TN. She has been a resident of the Chattanooga area since l961. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a person of great strength, determination and perseverance, always putting her family first. She was a long-time member of Lupton Drive Baptist Church and a member of the Amazing Grace Sunday School Class and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents Will and Julie Redmon, husbands PFC Frederick O. Melhorn, casualty of WWII in Germany in 1945, Ralph C. Grace and James S. Hester; daughter Charlotte L. Grace; sisters, Mae Redmon, and Marie Bingham; brothers, Charlie, Joe and George Redmon; great-grandchildren Aaron Williams and Samuel Melhorn.

She is survived by her children Charles O. Melhorn of Ten Mile, TN, James E. Melhorn (Judy) of Northlake, TX, Arlee Harden (John) of Ooltewah, TN, Kathy Varner (Glenn) of Fayetteville, TN, stepsons Robert Hester (Sandy) of Destin, FL, and Jeff Hester, Chattanooga, TN., numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arrangements will be at Schubert's Funeral Home, 1318 Knoxville Hwy, Wartburg, TN. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 7, at 11 AM - 1 PM with funeral to follow with Bro. Randy Bell officiating. Burial will be at Crab Orchard Cemetery, Oakdale, TN with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will also be held at Lupton Drive Baptist Church, 859 Lupton Dr., Chattanooga, TN Tuesday, August 6 from 5-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Lupton Drive Baptist Church.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to Caris Hospice, and to Joyce, Maudie, Rosalind, Marcie, and Teresa for their loving and faithful care of our mother and a special thanks to a special neighbor "Nu Nu".
