Thomas Ayres

Thomas Jon Ayres Sr. (Greg), 68. of Lancing, TN passed away on Tuesday, May 27th at
Crossville Hospital.
He was Preceded in death by his father, William White Ayres; mother, Gladys Merritt Ayres;
and sister, Linda Dike.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Mary Goode Ayres.
Greg was an extremely loving and proud father of four sons, Thomas Jon Ayres Jr. and wife Constance of Clarksville, TN; Anthony Dwight Ayres and wife Charolette of Mt. Hope, WV; William Harvey Ayres of Mt. Hope, WV; and Adam Wayne Ayres of Oak Hill, WV.
He was dearly loved and respected by his thirteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and his many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was a loving brother to Treva Ryder of Beckley, WV; Sherry Arthur and husband Greg,
of Oak Hill, WV; William (Billy) Ayres of Florida, and Ronnie Ayres of Johnson City, TN;
brother in law to Lou Christmas and husband, Tom of Winston Salem, NC, Cecil Goode and wife, Marilyn of Wartburg TN and JD Goode of Nashville, TN
Sisters-in-law, Hazel Anderson of Lancing, TN, Faye Justus of Wartburg, TN;
and a best friend to Wayne Bowman for over fifty years.
Greg Ayres excelled at being a loving companion to his wife, teaching his sons and
grandchildren to hunt and fish,
smoking the best pork shoulder anyone had eaten, teasing his sisters in law and
daughters in law, being a true friend
to many, and being a man that his family could admire and love. He will be terribly
missed.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 30th, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Fairview
Baptist Church. 108 Davidson Road, Lancing,TN. Funeral services will follow at 3:00Pm with Bro. Chris Inman officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
