Thelma Stringfield of Wartburg, TN

Thelma Louise “Granny” Stringfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on November 30, 2018, at the age of 85.  She was born March 11, 1933 to John and Edna Miller of Wartburg, TN.  She graduated from Central High School  in 1951.  She went on to become a seamstress for the Harriman Hosiery Mill.  Thelma was also a caregiver for several families in the area, and worked at Life Care Center of Morgan County through the years.

Granny loved the Lord, had a very strong faith and was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. She had a great sense of humor and a quick wit.  She enjoyed spending time with family, watching football (especially the Vols), reading and sweets!

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy Stringfield, Jr., parents, John William Miller, Edna Mae (Newberry) Miller, sisters Ruby Brown and June Lloyd, and her brother, David Miller.

She is survived by her son, John Douglas Miller (Lauren), grandsons, John Kurtis Miller and Sean Douglas Miller, granddaughter, Kelli Lynne Miller, a grandson who she raised as her own, James W. Russell (Abbey), great grandson Walker Russell, great granddaughter Anna Beth Russell, granddaughter Rachael Russell, great grandson Ryan Russell, sisters, Margaret Nance and Gail Burchfield, a niece and her family who were especially close to Granny, Darla (Steve) Garrett along with their children, Samuel and Stephanie.  She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Granny will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.  The family would like give special thanks to the hardworking nurses and staff at Life Care Center of Morgan County, who took such wonderful care of her for the past couple years.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 3, 2018 from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg with the funeral to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Bro. Gary Massengill officiating. Graveside will be Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. at Morgan Memorial Gardens in Wartburg, TN.
