Roy Eugene Jones

February 22, 1936 - June 20, 2017

Roy Eugene Jones died Tuesday June 20, 2017 at his home in Wartburg.  He graduated from Wartburg Central High School in 1956 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Cumberland College (University of the Cumberlands) in Williamsburg, Ky. He received his Master of Education Degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH and his EDS from Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN.  Roy was a lifelong educator and cared for the education of children in Morgan County.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn VanNorstran Jones; Daughters Susie Jones-Brier and husband Mark Brier; Deborah Jones; and son William Fredrick Jones (Rick); Grandsons Roy Elijah Brier and Levi and Lucas Williams.  He is also survived by brothers Sam Jones; and James Jones and wife Sharon; sisters Margaret Messer and husband Bill and Rachelle Jacob.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lenna and Fred Jones; brothers Robert and twin Ray Jones; sisters Ruth Jones, Ruby Hembree, Gladys Sims, Lorraine Humble, Freddie Jones, and Ann McCurdy.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday June 24, 2017 at 1100 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Hamby officiating.
