Reverend Romulus Archie Lavender, age 93 of Lancing, began his new life peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2013. Rev. Lavender, a proud Veteran of World War II, was a minister of the gospel, and had pastored several local churches for 54 years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maggie Pittman Lavender, his brothers: Ivan and Lloyd, and his parents: Jessie and Jennie Lavender.
He is survived by his children: Glenda Galloway and husband Larry, Brenda Neskaug and husband Tommy
Grandchildren: Sandra Wilson and husband, Donnie, Cathy Stafford and husband, Phillip, Chris Galloway and wife, Julie and Kimberly Neskaug
Great-Grandchildren: Taylor, Kayla and Drew Stafford and Clayton Galloway.
He also leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and special neighbor, Becky Davis, all of whom adored him.
The family finds comfort in knowing he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; a good example to others as well as a kind and caring man. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff of Life Care Center of Morgan County.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 22, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral Services will follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. Doyle Nance and Rev. Darwin Nance officiating. Graveside services will be Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Mt. Hope Cemetery with full Military Honors.
