Robert Rushing of Sunbright, TN

S/SGT Robert W. Rushing USMS, born June 25, 1948 in Beaumont, TX, died September 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.  He joined the Marines in 1966 then served time in Vietnam from 1967-1969 recipient Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Combat V.

He is preceded in death by his son, Robert Clark Rushing; parents, Eileen Simmons and Bob Rushing; and brother, Leslie Rushing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carolyn Rushing; son, Kenneth (Jennifer) Rushing of Lancing, TN; grandchildren: Austin (Cassandra) Rushing, Christopher Rushing, Katlyn Adams, Logan Grace Rushing, River Rushing, William Rushing, Aiden Rushing, and Arabella Rose Rushing; great-grandchildren: Zoee and Parker Adams, and Damon and Dominick Rushing; sisters: Carolyn Burnett of Pollick, TX, and Arlene Melvin of Knoxville, TN; and brothers: Jimmy Jones of Henderson, TX and James Rushing of Rogersville, TN.

The family is honoring Robert’s wishes to be cremated and no services have been scheduled at this time.
