Robert Duncan

Robert Ray Duncan passed away on April 14, 2016, after suffering many years with asbestosis and cancer. Robert was born in Anderson County, Tennessee, but spent most of his life in Morgan County with the exception of several years in Cincinnati, Ohio. He returned to Tennessee and worked at all three plants in Oak Ridge until his retirement in 1993. He was always busy with projects at the home and taking care of the yard work and helping other people in their times of need until his health failed.

Robert was a Christian and a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Petros, Tennessee, until his illness kept him at home, He loved the church and the people and enjoyed the fellowship all these years.

He was a Past Master of Black Diamond Lodge#625 and a Past Patron in the Order of the Eastern Star at least 13 times. Robert excelled in memory work and was a committed member of Black Diamond Lodge and Sunrise OES 364.

Robert was a Korean War Veteran who served honorably in the U.S. Army. But was very glad to get back to the United States of America.

He leaves to grieve his passing, his wife, Emily Evans Duncan; his children, Robley Duane Duncan and wife, Lisa, Hubert Anthony Duncan and wife, Natasha, and Jennifer Duncan Monroe and husband Michael Monroe; grandchildren, Tyler and Angie Duncan and children, Aiden Ray, Lily Jo and Addie Jane, Travis and Mercedes Duncan and children, Jake Allen and Karsyn Blaine and Tory Duncan and son, Ian Parker Duncan, Isaac Cly Monroe and Ella Gray Monroe, children of Jennifer and Mike Monroe and William Robert Duncan and Madeline Grace Duncan, children of Anthony and Natasha Duncan.
Surviving also are sisters-in-law, Bobbie Duncan and Sandra McDaniel and husband, Charlie and many other family members, nieces and nephews, held dear to his heart.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Duncan, mother, Esther Harness and step-father, Laford Harness and two sisters, Hazel and Christine. Also, preceding Robert was his mother-in-law, Imogene Evans, father -in-law, Robley Evans, his brothers-in-law, Jim Evans (wife Brenda Evans) and Eugene Duncan and his uncle, Don Whitus. He had many special friends in the family, church, Masonic Lodge and Sunrise OES364 and treasured them all.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 18, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will follow with Dr. Don Long and Dr. Jim West officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 11:00AM in the New Petros Cemetery, Petros, TN.
