Randall Armes age 76 went to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior and his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth "Novella" Massengill Armes on Thursday evening January 21, 2016. Randall was born September 18, 1939 in Fort Mountain, TN to the late Carlie and Julie (Babie) Armes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a lifetime honorary member of the Ironworker's Local Union 384 in Knoxville. He started his career in December 1968, he served his union with pride and was honored with the opportunity of employment.
During his time of membership, he served as E. Board member and President for many years before being appointed to fulfill a term as Business Manager. He served two different times as a delegate to the International Ironworkers Convention, once in 1986 and again in 1996. During his career he helped build much of the skyline of Knoxville such as Knox Civic Auditorium, the Sunsphere for the 1982 World's Fair, TVA Twin Towers and many bank building on Gay Street and numerous shopping centers. Later in his career he was at the DOE sites in Oak Ridge. He will be most memorable for his love of mechanizing skills, helping others, dirt track racing and having fun with his family and friends. From boating and swimming on the lake to loading up whoever could fit in the car and take off to Daytona Beach or Cherokee, N.C. to see the Indains to something more simply as Ginsinging in the mountains.
Randall is preceded in death by his wife; Novella, daughter; Beverly, parents; Carlie and Babie Armes, brothers; Robert, Rayburn, Ray and Lonnie. Sister; Rosie. Special great-nephew; Trey Armes, father and mother-in-law; Melvin and Daisy Massengill and dear friend; Bruce Hensley. Also several nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his children; Edwinna (David) Whitsel, Randi Denise (Curtiss) Anderson, Tony Randall (Samantha) Armes, 2 grandsons which was his prize possession; Michael Bunch and Eli Anderson. A shared granddaughter; Jennifer Bunch West.
Sisters; Bonnie, Wilma June, Charlotte, Sharon and husband John and Linda. Brother-in-laws and sister-in-law's; Everett and Nancy, Ralph and Robin, Glenn (Motto) and Joann, Gary and Gail Massengill, Geraldine and Jerry Melhorn.
Special friends; Bobby Gibson (Sheriff) and Roy Liles, caretaker; Jessica Lowe.
The family would like to thank Quality Home Health for all the care they have provided over the past year.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, January 25, 2016 from 6-8:00 at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg.
Funeral services will follow with Bro. Gary Massengill and Bro, Arnold Whitehead officiating.
Graveside service will be Tuesday 1:00 p.m. in Petros Cemetery.
