Ralph C. Emerson, 78, of Kingsport, went to be with our Lord late Thursday afternoon, November 22, 2012, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Ralph was born in Wartburg, TN, and had resided in Kingsport since 1976. He was a driver for Consolidated Freightways for 45 years with four million miles safe driving. Ralph was an active member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. He was a Mason, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and a member of Jericho Shrine.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Cam and Mae Brock Emerson.
He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann Stott Emerson, of Kingsport; three sons, Jerry Lynn Emerson and wife, Teresa, of Whitesburg, TN, Roger Conley Emerson and wife, Mary, of Asheville, NC, and Ralph Douglas Emerson and wife, Kathy, of Chattanooga, TN; one daughter, Jan E. Williams and husband, Dwayne, of Staunton, VA; five grandchildren, Andrew and Wesley Emerson, Victoria, Maria and Jennifer Williams; great-granddaughter, Natalie; sister-in-law, E. Sue Hutchison, of Kingsport.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The Jericho Marching Patrol will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 25, from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Masonic Lodge #688 will conduct Masonic Rites at 8:00 pm followed by funeral services with Rev. Ron Pelfrey officiating.
Mr. Emerson's body will be taken to Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg, TN, where they will receive friends on Monday, November 26, from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m., followed by graveside services at 2:00 p.m. at Wartburg Cemetery.
