Mrs. Phyllis Ann McCartt Clowers of Wartburg went home to be with the Lord at her home on May 7, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. Phyllis was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother and a faithful friend. She was a member of Greenwood Freewill Baptist Church. She was also a dedicated volunteer for many years at Morgan Scott Project. She enjoyed reading, bird watching and spending time with family and friends.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Pleas and Annie McCartt; siblings, Jane, Sammy, Johnny, Emma, James, Robert, Sally (Robinson), L.A. and wife, Kathryn, M.D. and wife, Letta and Glen McCartt; mother-in-law, Geneva Clowers Armes; brother-in-law’s, A.D. Kelly, Parley McCann, Ralph Fulks, Lynn Swint and Ralph Morgan.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Clifton Clowers Jr., daughters, Crystal and husband Bobby Tompkins and Tina and husband, Derrick Sexton; grandchildren, Jessie and Justin Tompkins, Jacob and wife, Bethany, Lucas and Tisha Sexton; siblings, June Kelly, Betty Fulks, Ella and husband, Bill Smith, P.J. and wife Carolyn McCartt, Sue and husband, Kenneth Moore, Gladys Miller and Eva Swint; sister-in-law’s, Barbara McCartt, Maggie Morgan and Kathy Bertram; brother-in-law, Mickey Robinson and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg with the funeral to follow at 7:00 with Bro. Malcon Strong officiating. Graveside will be Thursday May 10, 12:00 p.m. in the Lane Cemetery in Lancing.
