Morris Johnson

Mr. Morris "Cowpoke" Johnson, age 75, life long resident of Oakdale, went to his heavenly home, Tuesday, October 20, 2009. He was a member of Piney Baptist Church in Oakdale.

Morris loved bluegrass music and enjoyed picking the banjo for many years.
He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after having worked for several years in Roane and Morgan Counties.

He was preceded in death by wife of 50 years; Jean Brown Johnson, parents; Fred and Velma Johnson, brothers; Lowell Dean Johnson and brothers-in-law; Lawrence Brown and Leon Brown. Father and mother-in-law and Wilburn and Elsie Brown.
Mr. Johnson is survived by children; Tim and Kay Johnson of Oakdale and Tammy and Taylor Smith of Wartburg. Morris had 5 grandchildren; Tyler and Cory Johnson of Oakdale, Savannah, Morgan and Marley Smith of Wartburg.
Brother; Edward Johnson and wife Edna, sisters; Barbara Brown and husband Lonnie, Marie Collier and husband Bill, Linda Slaven and sister-in-law Frances Johnson all of Oakdale.
Brother-in-law; James and wife Thelma, sisters-in-law; Janet Wormsley and husband Willis and Mary Brown all of Deer Lodge.
Morris had many nieces, nephews and many close friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday October 22, 2009 from 6 to 8:00 P.M. at
Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg.
Funeral service will be Friday October 23, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Piney Baptist Church, Oakdale with Bro. Pat McGee officiating. Mr. Johnson will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
