Mary Martha Armes was born April 9, 1939 in Lancing, Tennessee where she was raised. She passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, May 25th, 2019.
She spent her life in Morgan County where she raised 6 children with her husband of over 50 years. Her parents were Charlie and Mary Newberry. Mary had 6 brothers; Charles, Clyde, Roy, Alfred, Wayne & Jackie. She also had 6 sisters; Hazel, Helen, June, Joyce, Jean & Sue.
Mary married Andy Armes October 24, 1955. She gave birth to 8 children and raised 6; Randy Darrell Armes, wife Donna, of Wartburg, Harold Dean Armes, wife Carol, of Knoxville, Kelvin Thomas Armes, partner Kimberly, of Whitley City, KY, Edgar Riley Armes of Oliver Springs, Vanessa Armes Daugherty of Harriman, and Tammy Francis Nation, husband Rick, of Oliver Springs.
Mary has a whole host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members that she loved very much. Mary fed and cared for anyone who came into her home and she never forgot anyone. She loved the Lady Vols and Little Debbie cakes. She was famous for her chicken and dumplings and chocolate éclair. And she always used the popcorn button on the microwave to heat everything. She loved her family with her whole heart, especially her grand and great-children.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with the funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery in Lancing.
