Mary Whitus

Mary Ruth (Wormsley) Whitus, 87 of Nashville, TN formerly of Wartburg, Coalfield and Jacksboro passed away, January 26, 2012 after a brief illness. She was born to the late Tom and Ida Wormsley on January 19, 1925 and was raised in Caryville, TN. Mary was preceded in death by her parents: Tom and Ida Wormsley, Husband: J.B. Whitus, Son: Ron Whitus, Siblings: John Morgan Wormsley, Emma Lee Price, Anna Mae Smitty, Pauline Wormsley and Margaret Wormsley.

She is survived by her daughter: Joy Howard and son-in-law Kevin of Nashville, TN and daughter-in-law Paula Whitus of Odessa, FL
Grandchildren: Emma Howard and Tim Whitus
Great Grandchild: Austin Whitus
Brothers: Frank Wormsley (Evelyn) and Don Wormsley (JoAnn)
Sisters: Betty Longmire (Ted) and Sara Locke (Jerry).
She is also survived by many special nephews, nieces and friends

For the past 14 years, Mary was a member of Crievewood Baptist Church in Nashville, TN. Prior to this she was a member of First Baptist Church in Caryville, TN and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield, TN where her great love was singing in the choir.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 3:00 to 5:00p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg with funeral services immediately following visitation. Officiating will be the Reverend Frankie Dickerson, Cookeville TN. Interment will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Petros Cemetery.
