Mary Lou Hamby Shannon, born August 9, 1954, was called home on July 6, 2015. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Mary Lou was a long time member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her father Ray Hamby.
Mary Lou leaves behind her beloved husband of 42 years, Johnny Shannon, her loving son Shawn and daughter in law Tammy Shannon, and her most treasured granddaughters Shelley and Hannah Shannon. Mary Lou is also survived by her mother Hattie Hamby, brothers, Burnis (Brenda) Hamby, R.P. Hamby, Steve (Nadine) Hamby, Roger (Tarri) Hamby, Nathan (Darlene) Hamby, Jimmy (Monica) Hamby, Kelly (Pam) Hamby, and sisters Barbara Johnson and Joann (Sidney) Clark, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mary Lou loved family gatherings, singing, crocheting, watching Shelley and Hannah play ball, and generally taking care of everyone. She will be dearly missed, but heaven gained a special and beautiful angel.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00PM at Schubert Funeral Home, Sunbright. Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 11:00AM at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, Sunbright with Bro. David Webb, Bro. Charles Webb and Bro. David Dial officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Cemetery.
