Marcella Thornton

Marcella Hensley Thornton, age 87 died peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2016.  She was born on June 29, 1929, in Petros, TN, to the late Clifton and Grace Hensley.  She attended Coalfield High School then lived in Hixson, TN from 1951 to 1998 and in 1999 moved to Rockwood, TN.  Marcella was preceded in death by her parents,  first husband Wade H. Thornton, Jr., her brothers and sister; James Hensley, Bernard Hensley, Lawrence Hensley, Tom Hensley, Johnny Hensley and Naomi Godwin and grandson, Bradley Woody

She is survived by husband, Herbert G. Thornton, son, Danny (Belinda) Thornton, daughters, Teresa (Ken) Perkins, Yvonne (Ronnie) Sexton, Bridgette (Norman) Woody and Felicia Van Asten.  Grandchildren;  Chris Thornton, Taylor Perkins, Alex Thornton, Cameron Perkins, Chris Sexton, Phillip Sexton, Tara Woody, Stephanie Van Asten, Marina Van Asten, Daniel Van Asten, many nieces and nephews and one special niece.  She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-3:30pm  at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg, Funeral services will follow with Bro. Gary Smith officiating.  Burial will be Monday at

11:00 a.m. in the Estes Cemetery,  Coalfield, TN.

The family asks that in Lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
