Mabel Lee, of Lancing, TN

Mabel N. (Cooper) Lee age 95, of Lancing, departed this earthly life on January 8, 2019.  Mabel was born January 10, 1923 to Tecumseh and Persada Cooper in Wilder, TN.  She worked many years at Harriman Hospital assisting in, and many times performing herself the delivery of many babies.  She shared many humorous stories of her time as a delivery nurse and even one of the babies she delivered was named after her.  After leaving the medical field she later began foster care where she loved and cared for numerous children that was placed in her home.  She loved each and every child she cared for and gave them a loving home and strong values to carry on with them.  She always loved the country life she was born and raised in from gardening, canning, growing flowers, sewing and good old fashioned cooking.  She loved having prayer time and reading scripture and was strong on family values and gatherings.  She loved people and was known by most as “Grandma”.  She loved sewing and enjoyed making items for her many friends and family.  From quilts, blankets, clothes, pillows to her all so famous kitchen towels.  And never walk into her house with holes in your clothes cause that would never do.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Dennis Lee; daughters, Dorothy Lee, Linda Randolph and Vickie Edwards; sisters, Bernice Frederick and Lucille Hickman.

She is survived by son, David (Arleva) Lee of Oakdale; daughter, Lynn (Don) VanNorstran of Lancing; grandchildren, Kim (Charles) Seiber of Harriman, Christine Randolph of Kingston, Denise (Doug) Owens of Lancing, Fay (Bill) Vallies of Lancing, Gina (Dale) Watson of Lancing, Christy (Chad) Hairston of Thomasville, NC and Deanna Edwards of Lancing; great grandchildren, Talesha (Willie), Trey, Jeremy, Jeffery, Scott (Katherine), Destiny, Calvin, Sam, Dwight, Darian, Isabella, Murphy and Braxten; great great grandchildren, Lilly and Sean; son-in-law, Roger Edwards and two that remained close to her, Joan Hines and Andy Milsaps, several cousins, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 11, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg with the funeral to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Bro. Brett Chambers officiating.  Graveside will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Potters Chapel Cemetery in Lancing.
