Mrs. Mabel Cansadia Branstetter Adkins age 97 of Deer Lodge, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 5, 2015 surrounded by her family and friends at the Hospice of Cumberland County.

She graduated from Sunbright High School in 1937 and then from Tennessee Tech in Cookeville in 1968 with a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. Miss Mabel as she was known by her students and community people loved teaching. She was a retired school teacher of 37 1/2 years with the Morgan County School System, having taught at the Deer Lodge School (Englewood) known as High Point now and Chestnut Ridge and Sunbright. Englewood was a one room school and she taught all 8 grades. She was very active with 4-H and with the Morgan County Fair, also with fundraising projects for the schools where she taught. She attended The Pleasant Green Church of the Nazarene where she has held membership since the church was organized in 1951. She served as Secretary and Treasurer at the church and also taught a Sunday School Class and was very active with Vacation Bible School for almost 50 years. She enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed quilting and made many quilts for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Lillie Mae Adams Branstetter and Miller Henry Branstetter Sr., her husband of 68 years before his passing in 2005: Joe Adkins, Son: Lowell Miller Adkins, Grandson: Joseph (Jody) Clyde Adkins, Great Great Granddaughter: Addison Lea Davis, Sister: Eula Kiser and husband Victor, Brothers: Clifford Branstetter, Ellis C. Branstetter, Glenn Branstetter, Lee and wife Reba Branstetter, Archie Branstetter, Miller Jr. and wife Rozella Branstetter, Eugene Branstetter, Cecil Branstetter, Herald and Byrl Branstetter, one infant brother and one infant Sister.

She is survived by one daughter: Portia and husband Bill Davis, Deer Lodge
Daughter-in-law: Wanda Adkins, Deer Lodge
Grandchildren: Chris Davis and wife Lora, Petros, Paula Stewart and husband Tommy, Crossville, Rebecca Jones and husband Robert, Deer Lodge, Teresa Draper and husband Joe, Clarkrange, Roger Adkins and wife Gwenna and Cansadia Branstetter, Deer Lodge

Great Grandchildren: Chief Jason Guy and wife Vanessa, Kingsland, Georgia, Justin Guy and wife LeAnn, Deer Lodge, Joshua Davis, Wartburg, Kristy Davis, Wartburg and Stephen Redmon and wife Brittany also of Wartburg, Diana Carpenter and Deborah Stedam both of Deer Lodge, Matthew Adkins and wife Chemeea and Kayla Adkins, Deer Lodge

Great Great Grandchildren: Riley, Tyler, Gracie, Sydnee, Aiden, Lilly, Morgan, Melton, Noah, Connor, Elijah, Emma, Ella, Ethan, Kendra, Gavin and Grayson

Also Surviving are Sisters-in-law: Charlotte Branstetter, Nashville, Rusty Branstetter, Wilda Branstetter, Dorothy Branstetter and Mayvonne Adkins all of Deer Lodge.

She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins along with friends and other relatives.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral Services will be Friday, January 9, 2015 at 1:00PM at the Pleasant Green Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Bill Durham and Rev. L.P. Ford officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Green Cemetery. The Body will lie in state from 12:00 to 1:00PM.

Pall Bearers will be Chris Davis, Roger Adkins, Josh Davis, Matthew Adkins, Justin Guy and Stephen Redmon
