Luther Hamby, of Wartburg, TN

Luther “Luke” French Hamby, age 71, of Wartburg, TN passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017, at his home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 26, 1945.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and French Hamby; sisters, Venus & Sim Griffith, Sylvia & Bill Beasley, infant sister Rene; brothers, Dempsey, Kinley, Freeman and Sinda Hamby and Raymond Hamby; mother-in-law, Dorothy Armes; sister-in-law, Fay Hall.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Wanda Sue Hamby, children, Kimberly & David Watson, Karen Hamby, Kandy & Steve Hutchison, and Dustin & Regina Hamby; grandchildren, Brittany & Jason Peck, Cortney Hutchison and Tyler Howard, Colton Watson, Christen Watson, Tyler Hutchison, Isaiah Hamby, Jeremiah Hamby, Noah Hamby; sisters, Josephine & Bill McGhee and Annie & George Melhorn; brothers, Nath & Diane Hamby and Dave & Judy Hamby; sister-in-law, Dossie Hamby; father-in-law, Archie Armes, sister-in-law, Patricia & Johnny Cline; brother-in-law’s, Gary & Kay Armes and Gene & Cindy Armes; special friend, George Lewis; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A special thank you for the outpouring of love so many have shown over the past several months, your continued thoughts and prayers, and to nephew Bob Hamby for all that you have done.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg with the funeral to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Bro. Gary Armes officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017 at their residence on Armes Chapel Road with full military honors.
