Louis "L.E." Kreis

We bid farewell to our father and husband, Louis Edward "L.E." Kreis, who departed from this world on Friday, August 23, at the age of 77. Surrounded by his loving family and friends in his final moments, L.E. was a pillar of strength and kindness.

L.E. was a butcher by trade, working at Darnell Food Market for over 40 years. He also served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star among other honors. His passion for farming and his unwavering spirit will forever be remembered.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Sue Kreis; his son, Wayne Kreis; and his daughter and son-in-law, Misty Kreis Goad and Brian. He is also survived by his siblings Brenda Watters, Johnny Ray Kreis (Sharron), Betty Ann Kreis, Richard Kreis, Tina Shannon (Sherman), Timmy Kreis, and Tammy Gibson (Keith). He leaves behind uncles Evertt Kreis and Billy Kreis (Susie), special cousins J.D. Kreis (Mary Lou) and Virginia "Ginny" White (Rick), as well as his loving brother and sister-in-laws (Pennycuff Family), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

We welcome all who knew him to join us in celebrating the life of a man who was loved deeply and will be missed.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 25th, 2024 from 5-7 PM at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg, TN. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 26th at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wartburg. Interment will follow in Morgan Memorial Cemetery with military honors, American Legion Post 149.
