LORRAINE HULING HEIDEL
Lorraine Huling Heidel, age 99, of Wartburg, peacefully fell asleep in Jesus with her family by her side on Tuesday July 18,2017. She was a happy and devoted mother, a loving and devoted wife, a caring and proud daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend throughout her lifetime. Born in Belltown, TN on May 13, 1918, she was the eldest of seven children born to Dr. A.M. Huling and Georgia Byrd Huling. She was a 1937 graduate of Spring City High School and briefly studied nursing at the Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. On June 14, 1940 she married Edwin Rudolph Heidel. Together they operated a dairy business on the family farm in Wartburg, TN where she resided until her death. This union was blessed with four children: one son, David Rudolph and three daughters, Joan, and twins, Wanda and Nina.
Lorraine was a member of the Baptist Church until her marriage to Edwin, after which, she was confirmed and joined St.Paul Lutheran Church in Wartburg. There she became active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, serving as an officer for many years. She was a long time member of the choir. Her passion was teaching little children about the life and love of Jesus in Vacation Bible School and in her Kindergarten Sunday School Class. In 2007, she was recognized for 66 years of faithful and dedicated service teaching Sunday School.
In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband on February 1, 2011; sisters, Willie Mae Huling and Eloise Burnett; brothers, Walter Huling , M.D. and A.M. Huling Jr; and son, David who was called home by Jesus on October 13, 2015; sons-in-law, William Joseph Winstead, Stonney Lane, and Ron Wade.
Surviving and especially mourning her passing are daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Dr.Neil Victor Weber of Murray, KY; Wanda and Leroy Turner of Wartburg; Nina Wade of Knoxville; and daughter-in-law, Sue Heidel of Wartburg; sisters and brother-in-law, Lillian and Mack Thomas of Corryton and Juanita Biddle of Wartburg; four grandchildren: Erika Henson (Brian), Christopher Neil Weber (Melissa), Jeremy Heidel Weber (Jayne), Tyler Joseph Winstead (Shelby); five great grand children, Zakary and Claire Henson, Owen and Olivia Weber and Anniston Weber; together with many nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July, 25 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 222 Church St., Wartburg with Rev. David Graves officiating. Interment will follow at Morgan County Memorial Gardens, after which a light luncheon will be served in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday July 24 at Schubert Funeral Home ,1318 Knoxville Hwy., Wartburg, TN.
