Lonnie Kreis, age 84 of Deer Lodge passed away January 24, 2015 at Life Care Center of Morgan County.
He was born March 31, 1930 in Roane County and lived there until 1992. Lonnie worked for L&N Railroad Co. of Oak Ridge before enlisting in the military on August 18, 1950. He served in Korea and received the Korean SVC Medal with two bronze campaign stars. He was employed with Burlington Hosiery Mill for several years; the Morgan County Sheriff's Dept. and later retired from Martin Marietta.
Lonnie enjoyed spending time with Cagey talking about things he had done in his early years. He also enjoyed playing with his cat named Wivvy and helping neighbors and the community whenever he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Elmer and Marie Kreis, son; Michael Kreis and brother; Connie Kreis.
He is survived by his wife; Diana Kreis, sons; Wade and Angela Kreis, Curtis and Terecia Kreis of Harriman, daughters; Suzanne (Susie)Humphrey of Harriman and Connie and Frank Potter of Knoxville, Brother-in-law; Richard Jones of Chattanooga.
Grandchildren; Cagney Miller of Oak Ridge, Adam Kreis and wife Ashley, Erin Randall and husband Marcus and Curecia Kreis.
Great-grandchildren; Briley Kreis, Maddie Kreis, Grayson Kreis, Gabriel Kreis and Harper Kreis all of Harriman.
Special friends; Bonnetta Brown, Dawn and Brian Riley, Tayvan Riley and Taylor Riley.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 26, 2015 at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg from 5-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow with Bro. Pat McGee officiating.
Graveside services will be Tuesday 11:00 a.m. in Mt Hope Cemetery with Military Honors
