Lillie Byrd, of Mossy Grove, TN

Lillie Marie Byrd, age 91 of Mossy Grove went home to be with her Lord and Savior, December 31, 2018.

She was born on May 11, 1927, on Smith Creek in Scott County to Kizzie K. Anderson Williams and William Henderson Crabtree. She married McKinley “Joe” Daugherty in 1946 and moved to Morgan County in 1949 where they raised 11 children. She was a devoted Christian and faithful member of the Star of Hope Chapel on Flat Fork Road in Wartburg. She would tell you that one of her favorite things was going to church. She loved her family, her church family and all her friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, McKinley “Joe” Daugherty and Lonzo Byrd; parents, Kizzie K. Anderson Williams and William Henderson Crabtree; brothers, Ova Crabtree, Hurthel Crabtree, Benjamin Crabtree Anderson; sisters, Ella Mae Crabtree Daugherty; children, Imogene Daugherty, KH Daugherty, Willie Daugherty, Grace Louise Daugherty Gilmore, Hobart Floyd Daugherty and Winnie Mae Daugherty Rich.

She is survived by her sisters, Marlena Crabtree Bass of Oliver Springs, TN and Annie Eleanor Williams Phillips of Huntsville, TN; children, Herbert Daugherty and wife Glenda of Waukesha, WI., Kathleen Daugherty Blackwell of Mossy Grove-Wartburg, TN., Gloria Daugherty and husband Darrel of Harriman, TN., Teresa Daugherty Swicegood and husband, Terry of Harriman, TN. and Gail Daugherty Hampton and husband, Jeff of Oak Ridge, TN.; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and 2 due this year and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A sister-in-law that was like her own daughter, Mary Potter.

We were blessed to have her in our lives and she will be greatly missed. She will live in our hearts and memories forever.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 4, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg with the funeral to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Darrel Daugherty and Bro. Garvin Walls officiating. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Frozen Head Cemetery on Flat Fork Rd.
