Lillian Oney, of Wartburg

Lillian Rose Oney of Wartburg, also affectionately known by her maternal nieces and nephew as “Bibby”, quietly stepped into the presence of her Lord on March 3, 2021.  She was of the Baptist faith, a member of Wartburg First Baptist Church and truly lived her life as a Proverbs 31 woman.  She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Hershel Oney, infant son Michael, mother and father Ethel Huling Shannon and Houston Shannon Sr., brother Houston Shannon Jr., infant sister Helen Mae Shannon.  She is survived by her sister, Mary Newberry, three maternal nieces, Sandy Shirks, Doris Ann (Pud) Langley and Susie Kirk and one maternal nephew Darrell Newberry, sister-in-laws: Virginia Jo Oney, Wanda Oney and Christine Oney.

She has many nieces and nephews from the Oney side of the family whom she loved dearly as well.  She was very close to a special sister-in-law, Relda Oney who was always willing to help her.

Bibby lived most of her younger years helping to care for her three nieces Sandy, Doris Ann (Pud), Susie and her nephew Darrell.  She devoted her life to them after losing her son Michael.  She was like a Mom to the four of them.  They all adored her.

As II Timothy 4:7 states, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Bibby has fought the good fight, completed her race on earth and kept her faith!  She leaves us with enriched lives and precious memories.  She will be missed.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg from 12-2 pm followed by funeral services at 2 pm, with Bro. Roy Langley officiating.  Interment will be at Wartburg Memorial Gardens. The family ask that you be mindful of the social distancing measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and they also request that mask be worn.
