Juanita Alene (Rusty) Branstetter, age 87 of the Chestnut Ridge Community passed away February 15, 2016. Rusty was born November 25, 1928 in Monroe County, the oldest of 9 children born to Click and Minnie Lowery. She was fondly known as "Rusty" because of her fiery mane. She was very involved in Morgan County and devoted time and energy to a host of community organizations throughout her life, first being a correspondent for the Morgan County News since the 1960's, Vice-Chairman of the Farmer's Home administration, a member of the PTA, Board of Directors for Life Care Center and FCE Home Demonstration Club. In her free time, Rusty enjoyed raising a garden and canning, especially green beans. Her passion was in the time honored tradition of Quilt-making, in which all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and now a great-great grandchild have benefited.
She was a loving Mother, Mamaw, Great Granny, Maw, Sister and Friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Eugene Branstetter; grandsons, Phillip G. Freytag, Matthew A. Morgan; parents, Click and Minnie Lowery; brothers, Don, Ray, Gene and James; sisters, Thelma and Dot.
Rusty is survived by her Children, Sue Branstetter Clark and husband George of Marietta, GA, Ann Branstetter Freytag and husband Glen of Wartburg, Jeanie Branstetter Ward and husband Phillip of Sunbright, Mary Alice Branstetter Morgan and husband Larry of Chestnut Ridge, Patti Branstetter Donahue and husband Clay of Wartburg, David Branstetter and wife Angie of Chestnut Ridge and Sandra Branstetter of Marietta, Georgia; sisters, Cleo of Powell and Freda of Clarkrange; 17 grandkids, 36 great- grandkids, 1 great great grandchild and one due in April and one very special Nurse Practitioner, Angela Brown.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral Services will follow at 7:00PM with Bro A.J. Alderman officiating. Graveside services will be at 11:00AM, Friday, February 19, 2016 at Pleasant Green Cemetery, Deer Lodge, TN.
