Juanita Shannon Armes, born on April 9, 1930 (93), went home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2023, at her daughter Janet’s home on Flat Fork Road while surrounded by family. Juanita was a founding and very faithful active member of the Star of Hope Chapel.
Juanita is preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, William E. (Foye) Armes; parents, Elijah and Jessie Shannon; sisters, Minnie Ann Armes, Lolita Daugherty, and Sue Mahaney; brothers, Clarence Shannon and Tom Shannon; mother and father-in-law, Kirlie and Lucinda Goad Armes; brothers-in-law, John M. Armes, Allen Armes, Joe Budnik, Bob Daugherty, Charles Human, Hank Mahaney; sisters-in-law Lueadia Armes Human; Hazel Armes, Joyce Armes, Pat Shannon.
Juanita is survived by one daughter Janet Goddard (Mike); grandson Michael (“Mikey”) Goddard (Trista), granddaughter Christie Jenkins (Roy); great-grandchildren Andrew, Evan and Eden Ledbetter, Roy Jenkins Junior, and Lexy and Bentlie Sawyer; sister, Peggy Budnik; brother, Bill Shannon (Nancy); a host of nieces and nephews that Juanita loved dearly, and a special friend, Annetta Watson.
The Family wishes to thank private caregiver Lisa Lee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Star of Hope Chapel (P.O. Box 1651, Harriman, TN 37748).
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Star of Hope Chapel in Wartburg from 11:00-12:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Darrel Daugherty officiating. Interment will follow in the Flat Fork Cemetery.
