John Matheson

Mr. John Franklin Matheson, age 73, of Vine Grove, KY, died Sunday, August 2, 2009 at his home.
He retired from the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and Korea.
He was preceded in death by wife; Etta Ruth Matheson and ten siblings; Edith Strinfield, Edna Sexton, Grover Matheson, A.Y. Matheson, William Clarence Matheson Jr., Leslie Matheson, Tinsley Matheson, Beatrice Killingworth, Ruby Matheson and Annie Matheson.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Darrell and Elizabeth Matheson of Texas City, TX, Randy and Charlene Matheson of Clinton, TN and Wayne and Judy Matheson of Pensacola, FL, a daughter and son-in-law; Rhonda and Michael Chelinsky of Vine Grove, KY a brother and sister-in-law; Tip and Ollie Matheson of Kingston, TN, sister; Juanita Phillips of Kingston, Tn.
Eight grandchildren; Kenneth Matheson, Nichole Lewis, Brittney Miller, Sidney Matheson, Donald John Matheson, Hannah Matheson, Daniel Matheson and Micah Matheson; one great-grandchild; Raughneisha Nakya Lewis; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday August 6, 2009 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral service will follow at 6:00 P.M. with Rev. Murl Phillips and Rev. Wayne Matheson officiating.
Graveside service will be Friday at 11:30 A.M. at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Knoxville, with military honors.
