John Nelson

Mr. John H. Nelson, age 87 of Crossville, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009. John served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was wounded and spent 14 months recovering from his wounds. He was a highly decorated veteran with 11 service medals.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Hiram and Blanche Nelson and brother, Jimmy Ray Nelson.

He is survived by daughter, Joyce (Jerry) McCoy of Kodak, TN; sons: John Paul Nelson of Crossville, TN and Timothy Jay Nelson of Smyrna, TN; brothers: Ralph Nelson of Vandalia, OH, Kenneth (Edna) Nelson of Fairfield, OH, and Robert Wayne (Martha) Nelson of Brookville, Ohio; sisters: Freda (Ottis) Ramsey of Cookeville, TN, and Shelby (Bob) Clear of Brookville, OH; ten grandchildren; fifteen great, grandchildren; six great, great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special loving friends: Joyce Williams, Misty Brackins, Dorothy Webb, and Ellen Ogle.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 11, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Bro. Ottis Ramsey and Bro. Kevin Nelson officiating. Graveside service will be Saturday at 12:00 noon in the Nelson Cemetery.
