John David Chapman of Kingsport Tennessee, formerly of Wartburg Tennessee, died suddenly Friday, October 12, 2018 at the age of 63. He was a devoted father to his son Eric and his daughter Jessica and a wonderful man to his fiancé Nancy Rogers.
John graduated high school from Central High in Wartburg Tennessee in 1973. He worked in the Telecommunications field for about 45 years and spent the last 36 years with CenturyLink. He was a dedicated and loyal employee and had an outstanding work ethic.
He was an avid NASCAR and University of Tennessee Volunteer fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to camp and went on an annual trip with a group of guys he liked to refer to as the "Old Geezers".
He was preceded in death by his grandparents John Walter Chapman and Stella Knight Chapman, Winfred Coleman and Mattie Goins Coleman, his father John "JD" Chapman and his sister Janice Chapman Beach.
He is survived by his mother Naomi Coleman Chapman, his son John Eric Chapman, his daughter Jessica Lauren Chapman, his fiance Nancy Rogers and her children Tyler, Robin, and Rachal, his brother James Chapman and his wife Cynthia Kent Chapman, his sister Lisa Chapman Sexton and her husband Matthew Sexton, his brother-in-law Tom Beach, his nieces and nephews Donnie and Stacey Bradley, Tom and Angie Denzler, Thomas Beach, Wayne and Renee Hammond, Travis Chapman, Elizabeth Chapman, Clint and Hannah Smith, Blake and Sarah Barnes and many great nieces and nephews, aunts uncles, cousins and the newest addition to his family a puppy named Tucker.
He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 7:00 with Dr. Paul Frick and Bro. Waylon Payne officiating. Graveside will be Monday, October 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Liberty Church Cemetery.
