Joe Walls, of Wartburg, TN

George Joseph Walls, Sr., known as "Joe"and "Papa Joe" by family and friends, passed away at the age of 88, on February 11, 2018, at Life Care of Morgan County, in Wartburg, TN.

He was born September 5th, 1929 in Wheat, TN. He was a resident of Wartburg, TN most of his adult life.
He was a World War II and Korean War veteran.  He held numerous jobs over the years and retired as Railroad Inspector for the Public Service Commission.
Joe served on many organizations, including; Plateau Electric and Plateau Utility Board, Boy Scouts of America and the Jaycees.
He proudly served as Morgan County Democrat Chairman for many years.
He was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters , Kerbela Shriners and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason with the Emerald Lodge 377 in Wartburg, Tennessee.
Prior to the stroke in 2008, he was an avid horseman and a significant fundraiser for St. Jude's Children's Hospital by organizing horse shows and trail rides over the years.

Preceded in death by his wife,  Mary Jo; parents, Clifton and Maude Walls; brothers, J.D., Wayne, Paul, Ralph, Frank and Rex Walls.

He is survived by his daughter, Joni Lovegrove (Randy); sons, Robert Walls (Charlene), Wayne Walls (Claudia) and George Joseph Walls, Jr.
Fondly remembered by his 10 grandchildren, their spouses, 10 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.  He will also be greatly missed by his siblings, Howard Walls (Margaret), Clayton Walls (Beverly), Katherine Kittrell (Don), Thelma McMahan (Len), Steve Walls and his sister-in-laws, Peggy and Eloise Walls, whose husbands are deceased.

A private burial service was held for family members at Liberty Baptist Church and a celebration of life will be held at  Schubert's Funeral Home in Wartburg on March 25th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. for the public.

Memorial donations in memory of Joe may be made to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital, Shriners Hospital or
Dementia Society of America.
