Joe Galloway

Joe Dan Galloway, born November 21, 1944 in Sunbright, TN to Hurgin and Ruby York Galloway, went home to be with the Lord on December 15, 2012 at the age of 68. He graduated from Sunbright High School in 1962, and Draughn's drafting college in Nashville in 1967. Joe served two years in the United States Army 101st Airborn Division. In 1970, he married Janett Freels and to their union was born two children; Sean in 1972 and Julia in 1974. Joe served as Deputy Property Assessor of Anderson County for 36 years. Joe was very active as a public servant in his community. He served as the President of Sunbright PTA for 12 years. He was the founder of the Sunbright Boys and Girls club in 1977. Joe has also been the "Voice of the Tigers" at the Friday night Sunbright football games. He attended Sunbright United Methodist Church where he was a trustee for 40 years.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Hurgin and Ruby York Galloway, brother Billy Odell Galloway and sister Anna Lou Galloway. Joe is survived by his wife of 43 years Janett Freels Galloway; son, Sean and wife Jennifer Galloway; daughter, Julia and husband Woodrow Smith. Grandchildren, Jared and Tyler Galloway, Callie-Jo and Brett Smith; Brother, H.W. Galloway, Larry and Glenda Galloway; Nephews and nieces, Bill, Paul and Chris Galloway; Sandra Wilson and Cathy Jo Stafford; 12 great grand nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
The Family will receive friends on Tuesday December 18, 2012 from 5-8 PM at Schubert Funeral Home in Sunbright. Funeral services will be on Wednesday December 19, 2012 at 1 PM with Interment to follow at Sunbright Cemetery.
