James P. Rule, age 91 of Wartburg Tennessee passed away Sunday April 14, 2013 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Wartburg. James was a true outdoorsman his entire life. He was preceded in death by his parents Pauline and Paul Rule.
He is survived by his children: Paula and John Christopherson, Bruce Rule and wife Ruth, John T. Rule, David Rule and Mark Rule.
Grandchildren: John and Lisa Lauderdale, Jennifer Hunnicutt, James S. Rule, Brandy Padilla, Samantha Clements, Heather Rule
Great Grandchildren: Scotty and Madison Hunnicutt, Anthony and Zachary Clements
James retired from TVA and moved to Wartburg to live the rest of his life. He rode horses, hunted, walked the trails and was an active voice regarding the management of the local natural resources in the area. He was a B-17 Fighter pilot in World War II and belonged to the 8th Air Force, 1st Air Division- 40th Combat Bombardment wing (H). He made many friends while living in Wartburg and they cared about him very much, two in particular are Crystal Tompkins and Junior Clowers whom were his angels and made his final years good ones.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday April 20, 2013 at Schubert Funeral Home Wartburg from 5:00 to 7:00pm and then he will be carried to the family cemetery in Covington Virginia.
