Irene Hurst, of Deer Lodge, TN

Irene L. Hurst, age 93 of Deer Lodge passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017.  She is preceded in death by twin sister Dorene, sisters Thelma, Ova, infant Clara, Brothers Marvin, Ben J., Jack, Shalar, Herman, Addison & Ernie and special nephew Gary Adkins and niece Marsha Adkins.  She was a member of the Deer Lodge Congregational Church.

She is survived by her brother Bill Hurst of Deer Lodge

Daughter Ann Potter & husband Mike of Huntsville

Son Mike Hurst & wife Judy of Lancing

Very Special Niece Shelly Holloway & husband Bobby of Spring City, TN

Nephew Danny Adkins & wife Patty of Monroe, MI

Along with many other nieces and nephews.

She was Gram/Grandma or Aunt Irene to Kaylan, Blake, Joshua, Jacob, Grayson, David & wife Missy, Laura & husband Brian, Sarah & husband Jerid, Amber & husband Matthew & Macey & husband Seth.  Kyla, Lauryn, Jaxton, Teddy, Kolt, Luke & Gus.

Very special caregiver and niece Sandy Phillips and other caregivers Chuck Bales, Angie Brown, & Mary Phillips and all the staff at Life Care Center of Morgan County.

Irene retired from Burlington Hosiery in Harriman in 1986, after this working at the Abner Ross Community Center Deer Lodge cleaning and helping with various functions.  She also spent many years after retiring, as many as possibly 30, working at Morgan-Scott Project up until the age of 92 saying “I just love people, so it is good to help people, I’m just here to help people” which describes the type person she was.  She had a heart of gold, but was never slow to tell you what you needed to hear, whether it is what you wanted to hear or not.  She left a positive impression on any person she encountered whether it be the customers at Morgan –Scott or the nurses and CNA’s at the Life Care Center.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 21,  2017 from 1-3 pm Schubert Funeral Home, Sunbright.  Funeral services will follow at 3 pm with Bro. Frank Kirby officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Deer Lodge.

Pallbearers will be Blake McCartt, Jerid Bezeau, Brian Schilling, Chuck Bales, Grayson Holloway, and David Adkins.
