We lay our mom to rest in our Holy Father’s Presence. Our Mom was born July 4th, 1933 and her name was Independence Taylor Landrum Stringfield, better known as India. Mom was a wonderful musician, prolific singer-songwriter and she deeply loved Gospel Bluegrass music. Mom loved to perform on stage, like the time she played for FDR in Rockwood, TN, or the time she performed at the Cas Walker Show in Knoxville alongside many country greats like Dolly Parton, The Everly Brothers, Roy Acuff, and Chet Atkins.
Mom gave up the glitz and glam to raise her two boys the best way she knew how, but she always found time to make us laugh or put on a show at the local churches or just at our house with other musicians on many summer nights. She was a great woman but all we ever knew her as was “Mom”.
India Stringfield, 91, passed away peacefully. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and all 13 of her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her two sons, Scott Thomas Landrum and Charles Taylor Landrum; grandchildren: Victoria Hearn, Taylor Landrum, Michael Landrum, and a host of great-grandchildren.
