Hollis Reed

Hollis Wellington Reed, of the Burrville community, passed away Thursday March 19, 2015 at his home. He was born in Oneida, TN on July 2, 1915. He was a very successful farmer in Morgan County, serving as Justice of the Peace for 25 years, president of Farm Bureau for 20 years, was a director for the Morgan County CO-OP, and also served on the Morgan County Fair Board, locating and helping purchase the property where the fair is held today. Hollis was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Burrville for 45 years where he served as Sunday school superintendent and song leader. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a moral compass for all he knew, and was a pillar of the community.

He is preceded in death by his parents C.C. and Rhoda Ann Phillips Reed
Daughter: Peggy R. Reed
Sisters: Pearly Douglas, Beulah Rosser, Alta Pressley, Emily Jones, Arizona Elliot, and Wilda Troxel

He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Lena Acres Reed
Children: Robbie (Phillip) Levi, Joe C. (Joanna) Reed, and Pamela (Roger) Lyons
Grandchildren: Mary Levi Mehl, Matthew Levi, Holly Levi Howe, Heidi Reed Kaiser, Heather Reed Patitucci, Anthony Reed, Mark Lyons, Ginger Lyons Pettitt, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday March 22 from 2:00-4:00, funeral at 4:00 at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg with Dr. Sam Wood officiating. Graveside services will immediately follow at Hazel Valley Cemetery in Oneida, TN.
