Hattie Hamby age 95 of Lancing, TN. Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 12, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was a loving and caring mother & grandmother who loved her family dearly. Hattie was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed her family, gardening and farming with the boys. She always offered food and coffee to all who entered her home.
She was born on Brimstone in Scott Co., on December 1, 1921 to Elbert and Mary Hamby, married her husband Ray on August 7, 1942. She raised her family on Greasy Creek until moving to her beautiful farm house on Hwy 27 in 1963.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Hamby, Daughter Mary Lou Shannon, Son-in-law Bill Johnson, parents Elbert and Mary Hamby, 7 brothers Tim, Hubert, James Ray, Bill, Lonas, Rob and Ulyous Hamby, 2 sisters Mattie Mason and Vergie Honeycutt.
She is survived by 9 children
Burnis & wife Brenda, R.P., Joan Clark & husband Sidney, Barbara Johnson, Steve & wife Nadine, Roger & wife Tarri, Nathan & wife Darlene, Jimmy & wife Monica, Kelly & wife Pam.
Son-in-law Johnny Shannon
2 Sisters Della Coley and Mabel Griffith & husband Delbert.
18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Also surviving is a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 13, 2017, from 5-7 pm Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm with Bro. Shawn Durham and Bro. Buster Armes officiating. Graveside services will be Tuesday, 1 pm at the Greasy Creek Cemetery, Lancing, TN
