Gustavous William Chilton, "Gus" 88 of Wartburg, went to be with his risen Lord, Sunday, March 1, 2015. Gus was born July 13, 1926 and was the son of the late Louise Heidel and Dillard Chilton. He served in the Marines on the USS Aircraft Carrier during World War II. He was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law: Bill and Emma Zachary and Jack Zachary all of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Gus is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Zachary Chilton,

Grandkids: Michael Roettger, Emily (Matt) Graber, Christina (Jordan) Smith, Ray Jenkins, Rebecca Chilton, Madison (Brian) Jones, Sarah (Drew) Jenkins, Sarah (Jake) Simpson, Monte Branstetter, Leah Jenkins, Aaron, Victoria and Olivia Hamby.

Gus was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and a lifelong member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church. He will be remembered as a Rural Postal Carrier, owner of Chilton Tractor Company and for establishing the Wartburg Speedway.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00PM at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral Services will be Friday morning at 10:00AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor David Graves officiating. Interment will follow in the Morgan Memorial Gardens, Wartburg. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church in his memory.
