Granville Simpson, age 76, of Wartburg, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, June 11, 2015. He was born on July 2, 1938, in Kentucky, but spent most of his young life in the Helenwood Community. He loved our great country and served in the United States Army from August 1956-September 1959. He worked for Sexton Chevrolet-Cadillac for 30 years, and would always lend a helping hand to those in need. He was a charter member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Wartburg.
He is preceded in death by infant daughter, Angela June, parents Lena and James Isaac Simpson, sister Blannie and brothers, Tommy and Ruble Simpson, brothers-in-law, Arnold Sheppard and Gordon Pemberton, nephews, Nicholas Simpson and Richard Simpson, niece Sheila Fleming, father and mother-in-law, Paul and Ella Lloyd, brothers and sisters in-law, James and June Lloyd, Jim and Brenda Evans, brothers-in-law, Bertis Neal and James Carender, sister-in-law Myrtle Terry, niece, Chris McKinney, nephews J. B. Neal, Sonny Carender, and great nephew Jordan Carender.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Judy Kaye Simpson, of Wartburg,
Daughters, Patti and husband Will Gouge of Coalfield, Tamra and husband Ray Duncan of Joyner, son, Kevin Simpson and wife Tina of Lancing;
his grandchildren who adore him and lovingly refer to him as "Pops", Jessica and husband Paul Davidson of Wartburg, Paul Gouge of Kingston, Jake Simpson and wife Sarah of Wartburg, Kaity Beth Gouge and husband Phillip McCarter of Oliver Springs, Jasmine Lowe of Joyner, Dalton Simpson of Lancing, and Luke Gouge of Coalfield;
Great grandchildren; Jaxon, Jobey, and Ace Davidson of Wartburg, Zander Lowe of Joyner, and Lorelei Simpson of Warburg
Also survived by sisters, Carol Sheppard, Joyce Pemberton, and Donna Simpson, of Ohio;
Brother, Nick Simpson and wife Edra of Ohio;
Sister-in-law, Ruth Simpson of Kentucky;
Sisters-in-law, Pauline Neal of Wartburg, Ruth Carender of Indiana,
Brother-in-law, Gene Terry of Indiana,
Brothers and sisters-in law, Frank and Agnes Lloyd of Spring City, Roger and Barbara Beu of Kingston, James and Patsy Shelton, James and Terrie Morgan, of Wartburg, Doug and Becky Lloyd of Rockwood
and a host of nieces and nephews, and dear church family and friends.
"Pops" will be remembered for his devotion to his wife and family, for his always helping hand, his wonderful sense of humor, and his contagious laughter and smile, and his ever funny "popsisms."
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00PM. Funeral Services will follow at 8:00PM with Bro. Dalton Simpson and Bro. Will Gouge officiating. Graveside services will be Sunday morning at 11:00 AM in the Morgan Memorial Gardens.
