Grace Terry

Mrs. Grace Terry age 96, of Memphis passGrace Terry age 96 passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 in Memphis, TN where she resided with her niece, Kay Cash. She was born March 29, 1916 in Scott County, Tennessee to the late Lee A. and Bertha Sexton Terry. She is also preceded in death by her brothers; Lonzo, Arvil, Francis, Gene, and Donald and sisters; Hazel Brown, Cora Montalbano. She is survived by her sisters Juanita Newport and Evelyn Caraway and sisters-in-law Joyce Terry and Maria Terry. As a young woman she worked at the Harriman Hotel, in an automobile factory in Michigan, and at Arnold Engineering in Oak Ridge. She also worked for many years for Dr. Fred O. Stone at his clinic in Oliver Springs. Grace had a great appreciation for nature. She possessed a wealth of knowledge about wild flowers and trees. Many different plant specimens could be found growing around the home place. Flowers and seed pods were always used as decorations in her home. Aunt Grace was known for keeping in contact with family and friends. She always knew where everyone lived, who their parents were, who they married, and the names and ages of their children. A visit to her was like a trip down memory lane. She had a long and healthy life and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 17 in Schubert Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m., Rev. Keith Price officiating. Interment at the Wartburg Cemetery following the funeral.
