REDMON, Gertrude Terry, 87, passed away on August 17, 2011 at Life Care of Morgan County in Wartburg, after a brief but courageous battle with myasthenia gravis. She was born in Wartburg on September 8, 1923 to the late Carl and Ella Bridges Terry. She was a devoted wife for 51 years to the late Larry Curtis (Bill) Redmon (1992) and the loving mother of three daughters. Her youngest daughter, Phyllis Ann Redmon Newport, passed away in 2005. Mrs. Redmon is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Linda Sue Redmon Petrey and husband Gary Petrey of Lancing; Barbara Jean Redmon and husband Leonard E. McNeese of Wartburg, Knoxville, and New Smyrna Beach, FL; and Harold Dean Newport, Wartburg; two grandchildren: Larry Grant Petrey, Palm Bay, FL and Valerie Michele Petrey Anderson and husband Gene Anderson, Lancing; and great grandson, Maxwell Kyle Anderson; sisters: Geneva Scott, Knoxville, Mescall McPeters, Wartburg, Mary Martha Herd and husband Robert, Morristown; brother Clyde Terry and wife, Anna Mae Terry, Knoxville, brother-in-law Jesse Kirby, Knoxville; sister-in-law, Crystal Redmon, Rockwood; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Redmon was a loyal member of Liberty Baptist Church, having worshipped in all four buildings that have housed the Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sunday August 21, followed immediately by the funeral service at Schubert Funeral Home, 1318 Knoxville Highway, Wartburg. Interment will follow in the Wartburg Cemetery, Potters Falls Road. Dr. Paul Frick, Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church, will conduct the services. Pallbearers are: James Gary Petrey, Harold Dean Newport, Larry Grant Petrey, Maxwell Kyle Anderson, Glen Duncan and Clifton McPeters. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Liberty Baptist Church, P.O. Box 40, Wartburg, TN 37887.
