George Kennedy, of Deer Lodge, TN

George Leon Kennedy went home to be with the Lord, March 20, 2019 at Tennova Healthcare Hospital surrounded by family and friends.  George was a man with a caring heart to help his family and friends at any time.  He will be missed by so many people who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Tompkins); sons, Michael and Leon; parents, Hershel and Maggie Kennedy; sisters, Thelma Brown, Wanell Smarsh and Carolyn Human; brothers, Charles, Frank and Danny and wife, Linda Kennedy.

He is survived by step-grandson, Christian Redmond; great-granddaughters, Lucy and Teagan; sister, Rose Mary (Clifford) Howard; sister-in-law’s, Dee Kennedy and Mary Helen Kennedy; brother-in-laws, John Smarsh, James Brown and Davis Human and a host of nieces, nephews who loved uncle George very much.  Special niece and care giver, Crystal Tompkins.  A special “Thanks” to the ladies at Brookwood Terrace apartment who shared good home cooked food and checked on him daily.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Morgan/Scott Project, 1022 Old Deer Lodge Pike, Deer Lodge, and TN 37726 who have been very special to him and his family for many years.

The family will have a memorial service March 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Deer Lodge First Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery with Bro. Roy Langley officiating.
