Eleanor Faye Newport Carroll passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018. After a long fought battle with Alzheimer’s she went home to be with the Lord and Savior to her heavenly home.
She was born, July 22, 1929 and was raised in Clinchmore, TN. She was a lifelong member of Big Mountain Baptist Church; she loved her church and her church family dearly.
Our mom was a devoted wife and mother. We don’t have the skills or aptitude or the vocabulary to do justice to the vastness or greatness of our mom. To describe our mom in one word would be “love”. She was a gentle soul and kind, selfless and compassionate lady. Our mom was our world, our root and foundation. She not only leaves us with a legacy of love, our mom planted the seed of love that we witnessed our whole lives. But most important she planted the seed that showed us the way to our Lord and Savior. Our mom was a prayer warrior; the prayers she prayed over the years will cling to our hearts forever. Our mom prayed for the lost and her children that they would come to know him too. For many years she taught Sunday school and led the church choir. Mom’s love for God and church family was a beautiful sight to see. Her faith in God was everything to her. For almost 46 years she shared her seat at church alongside her special friend, Etta Patterson. Our church family witness’ their love and how they took special care of each other. Also her special friend, Wilma Ambrose who spent so much time together cooking meals, camping, fishing and playing horse shoes, but most of all they were pray warriors they shared so many burdens for their children and the lost. Etta, Wilma have been waiting for Mom’s arrival in Heaven. Our mom loved to cook for her family and friends, she loved gardening and she also loved caring for her birds and flowers. She loved all holidays but Christmas was her favorite. Our mom was a treasure, our angel of love and we know that love never ends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Beulah Newport; 1 grandson, Tony McBumett; daughter-in-law, Anna Marie Carroll who she loved like her own; brother, Gene, Kyle, Clen, Celtus Newport; sisters, Ruth Phillips, Yvonne Chambers, Billy Kennel, Jewel Lowe; brothers-in-law, Alfred Bowling, Starling Lowe, Marshal Byrge; special nephew, Lynn Bailey who she loved to spoil; sister-in-law, Mildred Newport who was very close to our Mom.
She is survived by her husband of almost 69 years. They married June 30, 1949, Estel Carroll whom she loved with all her heart and she never forgot who he was. Her children; Robert (Millie) Carroll, Mary (Wayne) McBurnett, Jackie Carroll, Ricky (Molly) Carroll and Tammy (Jerry) Hamby and Anna Marie Patton; grandchildren, Bobby Carroll, Shawn Carroll, Robby Connor, Kyra and Jesse Lowe, Jeremy Tyler Hamby and Caleb Carroll; great-grandchildren, Jessie, Charlie Conner, John Paul , Austin McBurnett, Ashley, Brittany, Robert Carroll and Raydon Carroll; great-great grandchild, Kayden Lee Carroll.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient love is kind it does not envy it does not boast, it does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth, it always trusts, always hopes, always preserves and always protects and love never fails.
We would like to thank God for such an amazing gift he let us borrow for a while, our daddy’s precious wife and our angel Mom. God gave us the best.
Our special angles that helped us love and take care of mom: Anna Marie Patton, whom she loved with all her heart, Linda Lowe, Connie Duncan and her great great granddaughter, Jessie Conner. We would like to thank our Hospice Team at Covenant Health for their care and love.
“All that we are and hope to be we owe to our Angel Momma.”
