Farrell Wayne Kennedy went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, September 13th, while surrounded by family.
He was proceeded in death by his father and mother, Fred and Elsie Kennedy, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Aldon and Ruby Thomas, sister and brother-in-law, Letty and Faustryn Raczkowski, brother-in-law, Meril Anleitner, brother and sister-in-law, Fred Leroy and Marge Kennedy, sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Rosco Heidel, brother, Chester Ray Kennedy, brother-in-law, George McCartt, sister-in-law, Joan Kennedy, and sister-in-law, Ann Newlin.
Farrell is survived by his wife of fifty-five years Majorie Thomas Kennedy, daughter, Sandra Kennedy and fiance, Barry Clark of Wartburg, TN, son, Thomas Kennedy and wife, Susan Kennedy of Kingsport, TN, granddaughters, Elizabeth Kennedy, Emily Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy, and Sarah Kennedy of Kingsport, TN, sister, Jean Atler of LeHigh Acres, FL, sister, Marie McCartt of Lancing ,TN, sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Bill Bogdany Longwood, FL, brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Joan Kennedy of Hurricane Mills, TN, sister-in-law, Natalie Kennedy of Deer Lodge, TN, sister-in-law, Delsie Kennedy of Ponce, Puerto Rico, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ursel and Mary Atkins of Morristown, TN, brother-in-law, Johnny Thomas of White Pine, TN, sister-in-law Sarah Thomas and friend Toots Mantooth of Morristown, TN, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alvin and Judy Newlin of Knoxville, TN, and a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
Born July 3rd, 1936, Farrell was the 7th child of Fred Sherman and Elsie Pearl Kennedy. He was a lifelong resident of Deer Lodge, TN. Farrell received his Bachelor and Master's degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He worked on the U.T. agricultural campus while completing his degrees. Farrell started his career as a teacher and assistant principal at Sunbright High School in 1960. Later on he was Director at Oneida Vocational School. In 1971 Farrell was appointed Director of the Technology Center at Harriman, TN and served there for 33 years before retiring.
In retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, traveling, and working with Deer Lodge Congregational Church, where he attended as lifelong member.
Farrell was passionate about farming, conservation, church, forestry, Beef Alliance, and Harriman Lions Club. He served in the following organizations: Morgan Country Farm Bureau, Soil Conservation District, Morgan Scott Project, Morgan County Cattlemen Association, Morgan County Retired Teachers Association, Moderator of Deer Lodge Congregational Church, adult Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and past Superintendent of Sunday School.
In 1976 Mr. Kennedy received the Byrd W. Duncan Sr. Award for chairing the East Tennessee Health Improvement Planning Council bringing healthcare and doctors to the people of Morgan County for the first time.
Farrell Wayne Kennedy was a man of great faith, who touched many lives and his life was a living testimony to Jesus Christ, his Savior.

The family will receive friends at Schubert's Funeral Home of Wartburg, TN to celebrate the life of Farrell Kennedy on Monday September 16th at 6pm with the funeral to follow at 8pm with Pastor Rose Hermonat officiating. The graveside service to be held on September 17th at 11:00am at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Deer Lodge, TN.
