Ellis Love Heidel, age 79 of Wartburg, Tennessee went home to be with His Lord on Thursday, June 20, 2013. He loved His God, His Family and His country. The last few years were difficult for him due to several health issues. His faith in God and His promise of a brighter day in an everlasting home was always his rock, stay and sure foundation. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wartburg where he served as an Elder and on numerous committees. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was a member of the V.F.W. and The American Legion. He retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation after 35 years. He enjoyed traveling, watching UT Vols sports, NASCAR Racing, farming, attending cattle shows and sales. He especially enjoyed his grandsons; attending all their sporting activities, working on old cars and farming projects. He felt especially blessed by his grandsons and granddaughter-in-laws and great-granddaughter, Braylee and was eagerly looking forward to the birth of another great-granddaughter, Preslyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Paula Francis Heidel, brothers: Archie, George, Arthur, John Frederick, Hershel William and sisters: Mrs.Emma Hamby, Mrs. Maggie Leopper, Lucy Mae and Rosa Lee Heidel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years: Lovalene
Daughter and son-in-law: Tanuja and Johnny Dagley
Grandsons and wives: Jonathan and Meghan Elizabeth Dagley, Justin and Meghan Marie Dagley
Great Granddaughter: Braylee Dagley all of Wartburg
Sisters: Mary Watson of Chattanooga TN and Madge Barnhart and husband Harley, also of Wartburg
Brother-in-law: Henry Hamby of Wartburg
Sister-in-law: Gerrie Keck of Tipp City, OH
As well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Schubert Funeral Home Wartburg. Funeral Services will be Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 5:00 PM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wartburg with Pastor Stephen Skov officiating. Interment will follow in the Wartburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wartburg.
