Edward John Worthley received his angel wings on the 28th of April 2018. He was born in Johnson City, TN on the 3rd of March 1944. Edward was enlisted in the Army as a young man, then spent a large part of his life working as a Master Plumber and after he retired from plumbing, he went to college to become a writer. He was journalist for Morgan County Today newspaper. Edward was a singer and song writer. He had several songs that charted on the Southern Gospel Music charts while ministering at Pleasant Ridge Church in Sunbright, TN.
Edward Worthley was preceded by his father Edward V. Worthley, mother Ruth Haley Worthley, brother Donald Worthley, step-children Deberah Smith, and Shawn Nixon. He has eighteen children, seven from his first marriage and eleven from his second marriage.
Edward left behind his wife Rebecca Ann Worthley. His sister Connie Russ, Dawn Griswold, brothers Dale Worthley and Robert Worthley. His children Danny Worthley, Brenda Sue Surroel, Cynthia Worthley, Johnny Worthley, Edward (Jiggs) Worthley, Kimberly Worthley, Ronnie Worthley, Robert Alexander Worthley, William D. Nixon, Christyal Ooten, Angelia Morris, Shelia Delk, Tersia Kassow, Lisa Tagen, Cynthia Thomas, and Patty Belew. His extended family includes many son-in-law’s, daughter-in-law’s, so many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and so many close family members that he loved dearly.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 30, 2018 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg with the funeral to follow at 1:00 with Bro. Wayne Cromwell officiating. Interment to follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Sunbright.
