Mr. Earl (Butch) D. Johnston, age 64, of Knoxville, passed away suddenly on April 17, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl D. Johnston Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Freda Johnston of Knoxville; son: Jeff (Kathy) Johnston of Elgin, IL; daughter: Dawn Mau of Joliet, IL; daughter: Gwen (Bob) Wilkins of Elwood, IL; daughter: Denise (Larry) Ross of Clinton, TN; daughter Sheila (Kirk) Wilkins of Elwood, IL; daughter: Leila (Colin) Conner of Knoxville; grandchildren: Daniel Disney, Robert Wilkins, Amanda (Sean) Denny, Heather Wilkins, Adam Ross, Nichole (Tim) Freel, Lisa (Brian) Malone, Lorne (Omi) Wilkins, Brook (Justin) Loock, Kyle Huckaby,
Michael Sapp, and Faith Conner; thirteen great, grandchildren; and brothers: Raymond and Rick Johnston of Illinois.
Butch was born in Joliet, IL to Earl D. Johnston Sr. and Hazel Johnston on January 4, 1946. He went to school at Joliet Central High School; he worked as a mechanic for Caterpillar of Joliet for 30 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Marines and was awarded an Honorable Discharge on the 2nd day of November 1971. He was involved in the VFW, and on the Will County board for the American Bowling Congress for many years.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 19, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 20th, at Schubert Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Disney officiating. Interment will follow in the Mossy Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
