Doris Ryon

Doris (Adkins) Ryon, 88, of Springfield peacefully passed away in her home on Thursday, January 8, 2015 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was born March 9, 1926 in Deer Lodge, TN the daughter of Wiley Austin and Bertie (Anderson) Adkins. She was a lifetime member of Deer Lodge Congregational Church. After moving to Springfield in 1956, Doris worked for Aldens, Montgomery Ward, and retired from J.C. Penney as Credit Manager. She was a 52 year member of Highlands United Church of Christ Springfield, where she was an active member of Semper Fidelis ladies group.
Doris is survived by her beloved children Sandra Ryon, who was her caregiver, and Timothy and wife Sally Ryon; grandson and wife Scott and Courtney Ryon, and her great-granddaughters Madilyn and Audrey, all of Springfield; her niece whom she "adopted as a daughter" Karen (Hurst) and husband Merrill Karlen; great niece Jordan Donaldson Dueis and her daughter Kayleigh; great nephew Adam and wife Jaica Donaldson and their children Madyson and Eli all of South Dakota; niece Vickie (Hurst) and husband Rick Faris of Springfield; 2 sisters Mona Strand and Jeanie and husband Glenn Hurtt, both of Deer Lodge; numerous other relatives and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Albert R. Ryon in 2008; her granddaughter Jessica Anne Ryon in 2014; 2 sisters and 5 brothers over the years

Visitation will be at Schubert Funeral Home in Sunbright, TN from 5-7pm on Tuesday January 13th. Memorial services begin the next morning at 11 am in the Deer Lodge Congregational Church with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery following. Doris was much loved by her family and they always came first. Special thanks to her sisters Mona and Jeanie for devoting many hours helping with her care
