Derek Robbins, of Oak Ridge, TN

Derek Anthony Robbins, 53 passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018 at his home in Oak Ridge, TN.  He was born on April 26, 1965 in Redondo Beach, CA to William G. and Janice Dean Robbins.

Derek grew up in Oak Ridge and attended ORHS. He started his own Tile Company, D&R Tile in 1993. Derek enjoyed life and loved to be outside. He loved to watch the sunrise over the ocean and the sunset over the mountains.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing volleyball and fishing. He loved fast cars and loud music. About the only time Derek was still was sitting outside at night watching the stars.

Derek was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harrison and Irene Robbins and Edgar Dean and Thelma Dean Burgess; father, William G. Robbins; brother, Dennis Robbins; brother-in-law, Robert M. Gross Jr.

He is survived by his mother, Janice Robbins of Oak Ridge; 3 children, Sierra Jade Beard of Kingston, Elizabeth Raine Robbins of Oak Ridge and Jordan Chase Robbins of Oak Ridge; granddaughters, Caylie and Aubrie Robbins; sisters, Sheila and Earl McLemore of Clinton, Connie and John Cruse of Oak Ridge; brother, Dean and Tina Robbins of Knoxville; nephew, John Cruse; nieces, Vanessa York, Miranda Baker, Cristy Cruse, Ashley Leese and Hannah Robbins; 3 great nephews and 1 great niece; life-long best friend, Barry Cooper and Elizabeth Lea Workapick who simply loved him through it all.

The family will have a graveside service Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Garden with Rev. Bill Dean officiating. Following the graveside service, Raine would love for friends and family to spend the day together at Carbide (Clark Center Park) to share the love and laughter of her father. There will be a memorial service Monday, June 25, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Tekoa Baptist Church, 3700 Schaad Rd. Knoxville, TN.
